By default, our “Basic Cleanup” feature strips out a lot of the extra stuff and stylings from a text editor to make sure all of your documents look as consistent as possible, and are formatted correctly.

However, part of that process means we also strip out special colors and formatting that you might actually want to retain.

For example, let’s say you use colored headers, highlighted text, underlined text, and more:

Our “keep custom styles” modification to the Basic Cleanup means that you’ll get the best of both worlds:

  • We’ll strip out most of the extra stuff that will mess with your document’s formatting, but...

  • We’ll retain some of these special styles or formatting that you do actually want to retain

All you have to do is select one box under your Export Settings, and we'll handle the heavy lifting here:

Please keep in mind that we’re trying to find a happy medium between allowing a certain number of special characters or formatting through.

So if you’re having problems or want us to allow a certain style that we’re currently stripping out, please chat with us via Intercom in the lower right-hand corner of your screen and we’re happy to consider modifications!
